One comment on “Review: Starship Operators (スターシップ・オペレーターズ)

  1. I remember Starship Operators. I’m not a big fan of sci-fi shows, but I was drawn into this so much because of the emphasis in space warfare tactics and strategy. They plan ahead a lot, cunningly knowing that star fleets tend to go by the book they use it in their advantage.

Although the show doesn’t have much “romance” in it, I was actually touched by how the narrative handles issue of war and the traumatizing effect it has. This starts very early in the show where the crew, after the fact of their first battle, slowly realize that they were killing people and putting themselves at risk with lethal consequences. I found that to be very chilling.

Now if the show only went on a bit little longer… I do agree that not all the characters get the chance to develop enough. That said the show was, when I saw it, surprisingly good.
